Why Strandräuber (beachcombers)?
One day, a fisherman found a rotten ship's plank near his hut on the Baltic Sea beach, with "California" written on it. He took the strange piece of wood home and nailed it to his front door. Shortly thereafter, a rival fisherman who lived a little further east on the beach noticed the "noble" sign on his neighbor's door.
"If you can do it, I've been doing it for a long time" – that's what the fisherman must have thought as he immediately grabbed a suitable log from the firewood box. He carefully painted the word "Brazil" on it and affixed it to his front door. From then on, less creative contemporaries enviously admired the two signs.
To this day, the names have remained the same – California, with just over 400 residents, and Brazil, with just under 20 residents, are now Schönberg's beach areas. And now we'd like to briefly introduce you to the "beachcomber" so you know who's really looking forward to seeing you here in California on the Baltic Sea.
For your time out on the Baltic Sea - arrive, feel good, relax.
